Claiming to be a Harvard lawyer when you're not

Nov. 2015, Boston

A law firm website for David Corazza describes impressive accomplishments by the “Harvard-educated attorney” and lists offices in Boston, New York and London. Photos show him in a pinstriped business suit, on the steps of an apparent courthouse and seemingly at the window of a highrise office building.  But the 47-year-old is neither a lawyer nor a Harvard University graduate, according to the Suffolk County district attorney’s office and the university. Corazza, who is also known as David Koraca, was arraigned Tuesday in a larceny case, according to the Boston Business Journal and WCVB.

Charged with the unauthorized practice of law as well as stealing from clients, Corazza is accused by prosecutors of accepting thousands of dollars for legal work he never performed and using clients’ personal information to make his own purchases. Bail was set at $5,000.  Meanwhile, as the day progressed, his law firm website was still up and running.

The articles don’t include any comment from Corazza or his legal counsel. Koraca is his true name, the WCVB article indicates, but the Boston Business Journal article makes no mention of it.
